How to Adjust Screen Brightness on Chromebook

Screen brightness plays an important role in your overall Chromebook experience. If the screen is too bright, it can strain your eyes and drain the battery more quickly. On the other hand, if the brightness is too low, it can make it difficult to see content clearly, especially when you are working in a well-lit environment.

Fortunately, ChromeOS makes it very easy to adjust the brightness of your Chromebook display. You can quickly increase or decrease the brightness using keyboard shortcuts, or adjust it from the system settings.

In this guide, we will walk you through the different ways you can adjust the screen brightness on your Chromebook.

How to Adjust Screen Brightness on Your Chromebook

Adjusting the screen brightness on your Chromebook is a simple yet essential step to improve visibility, reduce eye strain, and even extend battery life.

Here are the different methods you can use to quickly adjust the brightness on a Chromebook:

1. Using Quick Settings Menu

Quick Settings is an all-in-one place to quickly access frequently used settings like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, screen capture, volume control, and more. Using it, you can also change the brightness level on your Chromebook.

Here’s how:

1. At the bottom-right corner of your Chromebook’s screen, click on the clock, Wi-Fi, and battery icons to access the Quick Settings menu.

Note: Alternatively, you can also use a keyboard shortcut to access it. Simply press Alt + Shift + S.

2. In the Quick Settings menu, you’ll see a slider with a sun icon next to it. This is the brightness control.

3. Use the slider to adjust the brightness on your device. Drag the slider to the left to decrease the brightness or to the right to increase it.

2. Using Keyboard Shortcuts

Another way to adjust the screen brightness on your Chromebook is by using the dedicated keyboard shortcuts.

On your Chromebook keyboard, look at the top row. Here, you’ll find two keys that look like little suns – one with asmall sun icon (brightness down) and one with a larger sun icon (brightness up). Use these keys to adjust the screen brightness on your device.

That’s it! This is how you can easily change the brightness level on your Chromebook to a comfortable level. However, if you are facing issues related to brightness; such as not being able to control the brightness level, try disabling Night Light and Dark Mode, as these settings can sometimes cause the issue.
