How to Fix Gemini Not Working on Chromebook

Google Gemini is an advanced AI tool developed by Google to enhance productivity and simplify tasks. It comes pre-installed on the latest Chromebook models, including the Chromebook Plus series.

Despite its seamless integration, you may encounter compatibility issues on certain Chromebook devices. If Google Gemini is not functioning as expected, this guide will provide step-by-step solutions to help you resolve the issue and get back on track.

Fix Google Gemini Not Working on Chromebook

There are several reasons why Google Gemini may not be working as expected on your Chromebook. In this guide, we will explore various troubleshooting methods to resolve the issues with Google Gemini.

So, with that being said, let’s get started!

1. Restart Your Chromebook

The simplest way to resolve minor glitches and bugs is by restarting your Chromebook. This can help refresh the system and clear any temporary issues that might be affecting Google Gemini.

Here’s how to restart your Chromebook:

1. Click the clock, wifi and battery icon in the bottom-right corner.

2. Select the power button.

3. Click Restart from the context menu.

2. Check Network Connection

Google Gemini requires a stable internet connection to function properly. Make sure your Wi-Fi connection is strong and stable. If you are not connected to the internet, follow these steps to reconnect:

1. Click the clock, Wi-Fi, and battery icons in the bottom-right corner to check your Wi-Fi status.

2. Turn on Wi-Fi and connect to a network.

3. Check for ChromeOS Updates

Since Google Gemini is integrated into ChromeOS, some problems might stem from outdated system updates. Keeping your Chromebook up to date ensure compatibility with the latest applications, including Google Gemini, and enhances overall system performance, security, and bug fixes. To update ChromeOS:

1. Click on the App Launcher icon.

2. Open Settings.

3. Navigate to About ChromeOS and click Check for updates.

4. Install any available updates and restart your Chromebook.

4. Clear Cache and Data

Clearing the cache and data can help resolve app-specific issues. Over time, cached files can become corrupted, which may cause apps to behave unexpectedly. By clearing the cache, you’re allowing the app to fetch fresh data, potentially fixing the problem.

Follow these steps to clear the cache and data for Google Gemini:

1. Open the Google Gemini app.

2. Click the three-dot icon and select App Info.

1. Click the App Launcher icon and locate Google Gemini.

2. Right-click on it and select Uninstall.

3. Ensure the Also delete browsing data option is selected, then click Uninstall.

Uninstall Gemini

4. To reinstall, open the Chrome browser and visit gemini.google.com.
