If you’re using a Chromebook, you already have access to Google’s built-in AI, Gemini. It’s smart, fast, and integrated right into ChromeOS. But what if you want to use Microsoft’s AI, Copilot, on your Chromebook?

Good news: you can, and it’s easier than you think! In this guide, we’ll walk you through how to install and use Copilot as a standalone app on your Chromebook.

Microsoft Copilot works seamlessly on ChromeOS through the web. Just open the Chrome browser on your Chromebook, head to the official Microsoft Copilot website, and sign in. That’s it! You can start using Copilot right away from your browser.

But if you prefer a more app-like experience, you can install Microsoft Copilot as a Progressive Web App (PWA) on your Chromebook. Here’s how:

1. Open the Chrome browser on your Chromebook.

2. Go to copilot.microsoft.com.

3. Click Sign in or log in with your Microsoft account.

4. While you’re on the Copilot website, click the three-dot menu in the top-right corner of the Chrome browser. Hover over the Cast, Save and share option.

5. Click Install page as app or Create shortcut.

Microsoft Copilot is now installed on your Chromebook. To launch it, click the Launcher, search for Microsoft Copilot, and open the app.

Install Microsoft Copilot AI Assistant on Chromebook

Until recently, Chromebook users had to rely on the web version, but things have finally changed. The Android version of Microsoft Copilot is now available on Chromebooks, which means you can install it just like any other app from the Google Play Store.

If your Chromebook supports Android apps, you can install Microsoft Copilot directly from the Play Store. Most modern Chromebooks support it out of the box, but if yours doesn’t, you’ll need to enable it manually in Settings.

Once the Play Store is enabled, installing Copilot is quick, simple, and works exactly like installing any other Android app. Here’s how:

1. Open the App Launcher on your Chromebook.

2. Launch the Google Play Store.

Open Google Play Store

3. In the Play Store, tap the search bar, type Microsoft Copilot AI Assistant, and select the official Copilot app from the search results.

4. Click Install and wait for the installation to complete. Once it’s finished, you can close the Play Store window.

5. Open the App Launcher again. You should now see the Copilot app listed among your applications. Click to open it, then sign in using your Microsoft account to start using Microsoft Copilot AI Assistant.

Sign to Microsoft Copilot

If you don’t sign in, you’ll still be able to generate responses, ask questions, and use most AI features normally; however, for personalized results, it’s better to sign in. And if you plan to use Copilot often, it’s a good idea to pin it to your Chromebook’s shelf for quick one-click access, just right-click the Copilot icon and select Pin to shelf.

That’s it! You now have Microsoft Copilot up and running on your Chromebook. Whether you prefer Google’s Gemini or want to explore what Copilot has to offer, ChromeOS gives you the flexibility to choose the AI that works best for you.
