How to Use Multiple Google Accounts on a Chromebook

Chromebooks are designed to work seamlessly with your Google account. When you sign in for the first time, your apps, bookmarks, settings, and files automatically sync with your account. But what if you want to use more than one Google account on the same Chromebook?

Many people have multiple Google accounts for different purposes. You might have a personal Gmail account, a work account, and maybe even a school account. Fortunately, ChromeOS makes it easy to manage multiple accounts on the same device. Yes, you can add multiple user accounts to your Chromebook. However, if you simply want to use another Google account within your main user account, you can do that as well.

In this guide, we will walk you through how to use multiple Google accounts on a Chromebook and manage them efficiently.

How to Add Multiple Google Accounts on a Chromebook

If you don’t want to create a separate user profile, you can add another Google account to your existing Chromebook user account. The easiest way to use multiple Google accounts is by adding an additional account to your current Chromebook profile.

This allows you to switch between accounts while using apps like Gmail, Google Drive, and YouTube.

To do this, follow the steps below:

1. Click on the App Launcher icon and select the Settings application.

Accessing Chromebook Settings

2. When the Settings window opens, select the Accounts tab from the left sidebar.

3. Then, on the right side of the screen, click on Your accounts under the currently signed-in account section.

6. After signing in, review and agree to the Terms of Service to complete the process.

That’s it! You have successfully added another Google account to your Chromebook. This allows you to access multiple accounts from the same user profile and easily switch between them when using Google services. As a result, you can keep your work and personal accounts organized without needing to create separate user accounts on your Chromebook.

How to Remove an Additional Google Account from Chromebook

If you no longer need the additional Google account that you added to your main Chromebook profile, you can easily remove it from the settings. Removing an account will stop it from syncing emails, files, and other Google services on your device.

To remove an additional Google account from your Chromebook, follow the steps below:

1. Click on the Quick Settings panel in the bottom-right corner of your screen.

2. Select the Gear icon to open the Settings application.

Open Settings from Quick Menu

3. Once the Settings window opens, select the Accounts tab from the left pane of the screen.

4. On the right side, click on Your accounts under the currently signed-in account section.

5. Under the Additional accounts section, locate the Google account you want to remove. Click the three-dot menu next to that account and select Remove this account.

6. Confirm the action when prompted. The selected Google account will then be removed from your Chromebook.
